Cristina Eustace, known as Cristina, is one of the brightest recording artists making her mark on the Latin music industry today. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, she began singing and performing at a very young age gaining recognition, scholarships and accolades which propelled her towards her musical career.
She is well-known from winning the fifth season of Objetivo Fama 5, a Puerto Rican reality singing competition similar to American Idol tailored for the Latino market aired in United States, Puerto Rico and on cable in all Latin America. In Objetivo Fama 5, Cristina charmed audiences with her gregarious personality and garnered critical acclaim for her weekly musical demonstrations which covered a wide range of styles. Based on her popularity, Univision also selected Cristina to join their production of Viva el Sueno, a singing show which pitted established artists against each other, and chose her to host Feliz 2010, Univision’s New Year’s Eve programming. Millions of Spanish-speaking television viewers closed 2010 with Cristina wishing them a Happy New Year from the Angel of Independence on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City.
Although experienced with a variety of Latin music genres including Mariachi, Banda and Latin Pop, Cristina continues to explore songs that touch a chord with her personally and connect her to her Mexican and Latin roots bringing a new style to the traditional sounds of Latin music. After Viva el Sueno, Universal Music released Cristina’s album, Mucha Mujer Para Ti, to critical acclaim and commercial success. Heralded as a fresh and vibrant take on traditional Mexican music, Mucha Mujer Para Ti showcases her romantic, yet fearless style as a confident female songstress. The titled single shot to #18 on Billboard’s Latin music chart the first week of its release and is now an audience favorite.
In August 2010, Cristina was awarded Best Female Vocalist at the Premios Texas Awards, the prestigious Texas Latin music awards, and opened the show with the emotional and powerful performance of “Mexico, Lindo y Querido.” She garnered a second nomination in 2011; this time for best album of the year with Mucha Mujer Para Ti.
Cristina completed her latest album “Golpes de Pecho” in August of 2011 and is looking forward to performing her new songs for fans across Latin America and the United States. The title song from the album was released in Mexico to the radio and television market. In September, her second single, “Sin El” will be release in both the US and Mexican markets.
Besides music, Cristina is an advocate for women and children who suffer domestic violence. She has been recognized by the Senate of Puerto Rico, along with hundreds of members of her active fan base, for her contribution to PSAs on the subject. She has made appearances on the behalf of the “Oficina the Asuntos de la Juventud”, the Governor’s youth-related activities and relations organization, and the “Asociacion de Ex-Presidentas”, a social awareness organization of ex-female presidents and leaders which promotes and defends social rights in Puerto Rico.
